I’ve always been quite supportive of transgender individuals, preferring to think their condition is the result of a severe endocrine system malfunction, much the way that people with, say, cystic fibrosis, are suffering from a gene malfunction that doesn’t allow salt to move around their bodies the way it should. I’m perfectly comfortable with the evidence that there are male brains and female brains and male bodies and female bodies and when the in utero exposure rates get messed up, gender specific disorders arise. Most people really don’t have much of an issue with Turner Syndrome, even though the sufferers look very strange, so why would we have an issue with transgenderism, if the two conditions share some essential sex-hormone malfunctions?
And spare me the accusation that I just called transgender people ‘malfunctions’. No I didn’t, unless you also think people with cystic fibrosis are ‘malfunctions’. That’s just stupid and I refuse to engage with this argument. I like to think that my view on transgenderism arises from both compassion and rationality. It’s not nice to call people mentally ill or delusional (even if it’s true), plus there is some pretty good evidence that transgenderism is an illness rooted in sex hormone exposure and/or genetic anomalies. I like that Gavin McInnes had the cojones to write his infamous transgender article, but at the end of the day, it’s just mean! Sadly, I am still a woman, and there are some things I am simply not going to be able to comprehend as a man might.
What I can understand is that there is a fundamental asymmetry when it comes to transgender athletes. These stories interest me because I can’t afford to forget the differences between men and women when I am training. Knives, guns and sticks may be great equalizers when it comes to mitigating against the incredibly huge differences between men and women, but to think “equalizer” means “equality” is a very harsh mistake. A knife, or any edged weapon, gives me an advantage over being unarmed, but the ease with which most men can snap both bones in my arm hasn’t changed. Most twelve year old boys can render a punch that will knock me out cold. A trained, fully grown man? I’m dead before I begin. I need him to make some serious mistakes. Luckily for me, most men will make exploitable mistakes, but the idea of facing down a human male, of any age, with even rudimentary training, sends a shiver down my spine.
It’s not likely to end well for me.
That’s just reality.
When I look at stories about transgender athletes, the same reality influences my thoughts. There is a difference between male-to-female and female-to-male transgender athletes that can’t simply be chatted away. The most basic iteration is this: women who want to become men and go play with the big boys should be free to do so. Choose destruction. Go ahead. But men who want to become women can not go and play with the girls. No amount of Viva Glam lipstick is going to change the tremendous physical advantage men have over women. The denser bones structure and greater musculature of men, leading to higher rates of blood oxygenation and greater endurance is simply going to destroy most women. This is what a blow out orbital eye bone fracture looks like:
Fallon Fox, as cute as she is, destroyed her opponent because she is a man.
The fight arena makes that clear. As do wrestling mats. The biological girl who is taking male hormones is destroying her opponents because she/he is being forced to compete in the girl’s division when she doesn’t want to. Here’s the asymmetry: let her go and wrestle the boys.
She will get pretzeled.
But we cannot use this as an argument for why biological boys should be allowed to wrestle with the girls because they are transgendered. Biological boys are going to seriously hurt and injure female competitors and that is not fair to the girls. The world doesn’t exist where I am going to agree to cage match an adult male (Justin Trudeau doesn’t count – that faggot is as much of a man as I am), but I could end up in a street brawl with a man – especially if any wingnut leftie protestors are planning to make appearances at my upcoming talks (we’ll discuss that later). The fascists on the left are violent, and I am not standing around while I get acid in the face or suckerpunched because #OccupyDemocrats morons don’t know what the word Nazi means. Have you seen this? I seriously want to slap the shit out of the creator. This level of stupid and ignorant is offensive.
I’ll fight, but with the full understanding that up against a man, I’m extremely vulnerable.
Sending teenage wrestlers to fight a person transitioning from one gender to another presents a challenge that requires us to acknowledge a simple, but currently unpalatable reality: men and women are not equals. Are you a girl who wants to be a boy and you want to fight boys? Go ahead, cupcake. Update your health insurance. Are you a boy who wants to be a girl and fight the other girls? Not a chance in hell. You will have to choose: your gender or your sport. Yes, yes. I understand. That’s not fair. Sorry, snowflake. Did someone tell you life was going to be fair?
Buckle in, sweetheart.
It doesn’t get better.
Lots of love,
