A taxpayer funded, Olympic size swimming pool in Luton, UK, has sparked outrage after declaring that the prime swim hours between 8:30 and 9:30 PM on Fridays would be reserved for men and boys only. Superficially, this doesn’t appear to be a controversial decision, but upon closer examination, it’s actually for quite a terrible reason.
Providing men safe space, away from middle-aged, hair-triggered feminists itching to accuse any random man they can with inappropriate behaviour is a perfectly legitimate reason to provide men and boys with female-free swim time. I’ll bet Mark Pearson wishes he had had safe space the day he was accused of violently sexually assaulting a witchy-looking actress on the train platform in London. Mark spoke at the ICMI conference, and he was clearly still shaken to his core at the speed with which his entire life was torn apart, on the words of a menopausal nutcase desperate to believe she could still command the uncontrollable lust of an attractive man.
These women are far from alone. There are expected to be just over 20M people aged 40 and over in the UK by 2020, and slightly more than half of those will be women. Given that one fifth of all women over 45 have no children, that’s a whole lot of desperate, frustrated women who will be casting about for someone to blame for their misery. Providing men with some swim time free from these elderly harpies is a good idea, but that isn’t why Luton has offered women-free pool hours.
There is also an excellent argument to be made that men and boys derive considerable benefits from spending time with one another in social spaces unmitigated by women, who enjoy creating and enforcing rules that bear no relationship to the comfort or pleasures of men. Throw pillows are but one example of this decidedly female phenomenon. 48% of men surveyed by the Training and Development Agency in the UK indicate that having a male teacher during their primary years had the greatest impact on them. Men inspire boys to work harder, and men boost boy’s confidence levels in a way female teachers and mentors simply can’t. Men have largely been stripped out of primary education, on the ostensible grounds of pedohysteria, but far more likely because the primarily female teaching staff can now award even more jobs and benefits to other women. If nepotism harms half their students, well, count on female teachers to not give a damn.
Allowing men and boys the space and time to engage in a social activity without being monitored by the joyless shrew brigade would have been a decided social good, but again, that is not why Lutsen is setting aside hours for men and boys only.
Lutsen has men only swim hours to appease radical, poisonous Islam.
The gender-segregated sessions are being advertised as ‘Alhamdulliah swimming’ on Facebook, a Muslim phrase which thanks God for his blessings.
Posters promoting the event, which were implemented last Friday, strictly ask that ‘navel to knee must be covered’.
The 2011 census showed a quarter of Luton’s 196,173 population (a 2010 mid-year estimate) is Muslim, up 25 per cent on 2001.
It also reveals that Islam is the second largest religion in the town – with some 49,991 people practising – behind Christianity.
There are indeed some good reasons to provide men and boys with gender segregated swim hours, but appeasing this 7th century barbarism is not one of them. Muslims in the UK who wish to live out their lives segregated along gender standards common during the days of Constantinople fighting the armies of Emperor Maurice are free to do so. Go ahead. Go back to one of those wonderful countries still abiding by 7th century dictats.
The true citizens of the UK must rise up and push back against this toxic importation of politically inspired religious values completely incompatible with the norms of equality and individual liberty. Don’t allow Islam to foul the waters of our pools. Feminism is another form of the same kind of controlling, venomous view of gender relations, and it must be resisted with the same vigor.
Islam and feminism are oddly comfortable bedfellows.
If feminism is cancer, Islam is poison.
We don’t want either.
Lots of love,
