When Ann Coulter first predicted Trump would take the Republican nomination and the Oval Office, she was met with howls of laughter.
But Ann was right. I was not far behind her in calling Trump for the win.
Buzzfeed Canada admonished me, but I was right, too.
I am now going to make a way ahead of the curve prediction about Mr. Kanye West, the undisputed master of monetizing a catchy beat across an entire corporatized culture. Bey is late to the party with her athlesire brand, which I have yet to see a single suburbanite wearing. Yeezy has been knocking it out of the park for years. The haters gonna hate, but Kanye just cashes checks and shakes it off.
Kanye is an interesting artist, and I like an enormous amount of what he produces, and I think Kanye’s secret is that he writes for me. No, seriously. As an artist, Kanye works in a genre that doesn’t populate the typical privileged, white, married housewife playlist, and he even went after Nazi Barbie, for heaven’s sake, but I still love him. Kanye makes his music accessible to everyone – he writes to put a beat in every human heart, not just the hearts shelling cash for his various wares. I think that’s unusual for an artist, certainly a modern musical artist. Taylor and Justin know their markets and they don’t stray too far off reservation musically, but Kanye is bolder, more confident, more assured, more willing to take risks to ring in more ears.
Or he’s just plain stupid, but I rather think not.
Twitter is in an uproar at the moment over Kanye tweeting his support for Candace Owen, a gorgeous young black woman who is having nothing to do with victimhood culture or white men who berate her for sucking racist dicks. You stay classy, Tom Arnold. How on earth was Roseanne ever married to that wanker?
Candace, by the way, is a friend of Ethan Ralph who had the good sense to listen to such a powerful voice early on. That Ralph keeps doing misogyny wrong. He is a piss poor racist, too, with the company he keeps. Ralph platformed Candace, and Candace picked up a fan in Kanye West. Kanye lit a fire and then poured some gasoline on it by tweeting Scott Adams and some philosophical musings about the importance of free thoughts and diversity of opinion.
The left has responded in their predictably rational, calm, sane way. Le sigh.
It’s not too hard to see why the left claimed Kanye as their own. He has been using the master’s tools to take down the master’s house for a long, long time. Maybe you, Audre Lorde, couldn’t do it, but to the left, to the left. Let the man go to work. Do you think Kanye is singing about himself in Runaway? Reconsider that song in the light of MAGA. Let’s have a toast for the douchebags, for the assholes, for the scumbags who will always find somethin’ wrong, who are gifted at findin’ what they don’t like.
Hey #BlackLivesMatter and social justice warriors, he’s talking to you!
And Kanye’s got a plan.
Runaway as fast as you can.
All of Kanye’s best work is superficially in line with Official Plantation Doctrine. And every song also undermines it in a way I will guess Kanye thinks leaves a mark on the mind, on the soul. Good Life? A celebration of capitalism and achievement. Hey Mama? A successful life starts with education. Stop acting a fool. Heartless? One woman, one man. Only One is a song of redemption and forgiveness and the vital importance of fathers in the lives of small children.
…you’re not perfect, but you’re not your mistakes.
Pull Kanye’s entire oeuvre together, and how has anyone ever missed that Kanye West is a conservative black man ready to lead more than just his own life? Hard work, family, education, one woman, fatherhood, forgiveness and always, always, living the dream.
What dream, you ask?
The American Dream.
It’s very much alive.
Donald Trump is performing necessary CPR on the American Dream and breathing it back to life. Listen to the words of Kanye West and you will hear the voice of the man who wants to inspire every man, woman and child to a Good Life. The good life they define for themselves. Trump is setting the house in order. Kanye West is poised to be the inspiration America needs to bring all her children to fruition, if they choose it. The inspiration is free.
Donald Trump will take the Oval Office in 2020.
Kanye West will follow him. I predict West will begin his mentorship very soon. And Trump would be a fool not to take him on. West is a man of God, and a monster. And he’s gonna need to see your hands at the concert ….
Kanye 2024 for the win.
